Tremendously well trained in a wide range of disciplines, Stella Marcel advocates for her clients by being a teacher and staying a student. She completed 1200 hours of massage training with the Michigan Institute of Therapeutic Massage and Applied Science (MITMAS) in 2005-2006 and has pursued supplemental certifications every year since then in pursuit of her heartfelt belief in healing the whole human. Her main areas of specialty are Russian and Ashiatsu massage, colon hydrotherapy and implants and yoga and body rolling. Ms. Marcel has worked as a teacher at Everest Institute and has been employed by the likes of the Ritz Carlton and Yoga Tree San Francisco in addition to operating her own spa first in Holland , Mich. and now in Kalamazoo, Mich.
A visit to Stella Marcel's massage table might include cupping, hot stone therapy, aromatherapy, Yamuna balls or Ashiatsu treatment in which bars on the ceiling allow the practitioner to deeply release soft tissue and muscular tension. Marcel received Yamuna Ball Rolling training in 2006 and 2010, Ashiatsu Barefoot Master training in 2007/2008, studied aromatherapy with Dana Young in 2006 and with doTerra in 2014 and has also undergone Rossiter coach training – an off-shoot of rolfing that focuses on joint mobility. Each visit is tailored to the patient's needs, and her clients report feeling physically and spiritually rejuvenated.
Ms. Marcel also studied colon hydrotherapy at the Kalamazooo Center for Healing Arts and earned her certificate from the International School of Colon Hydrotherapy in 2008, has completed an Advanced Course of Colon Hydrotherapy focusing on implants and colonic lavage from the Wellness Institute of Digestive Health and is a member of the Global Professional Association for Colon Therapy. A practitioner and a client herself, she fervently believes in colon hydrotherapy as a tool both to improve digestion and to address a broad range of ailments ranging from constipation, diarrhea, arthritis, acne, toxic liver, kidneys, and gallbladder as well as more serious conditions including diabetes and cancer. She's also worked extensively with raw food chefs to develop dietary plans designed to complement her colon hydrotherapy protocols. She utilizes the Dotolo Toxigen closed system with disposable kits that have been designed by Dr Christopher Demetriou M.D
Stella Marcel also relishes teaching the self-care discipline of yoga, in which she earned her 200-hour certification at Yoga Tree in San Francisco. Specializing in what she calls “yoga fusion,” she recommends a combination of yoga and body rolling that teaches the client to heal themselves with deep tissue work that improves mobility and reduces discomfort. She also delights in tailoring a day-spa experience pairing complementary treatments that leave the client feeling pampered, peaceful and refreshed.
